The horror genre is polarizing, you either love it or hate it. It’s only natural that not everyone wants to subscribe to Shudder, a horror movie streaming service. But we believe that horror can benefit us all. By experiencing fear through the safety of a screen, you’re more likely to jump at the next thrilling opportunity like getting that tattoo, riding a roller coaster, or even skydiving.

Once you conquer fear, you can conquer all, and truly live your life to the fullest.

The Handbook

The Handbook is the first official scale to measure fear, informed by our horror experts. The Handbook is the official guide to Shudder users of how scary each title is, but also how scary certain thrill-seeking experiences in life are too.

The Order

The Order is an in-app feature that is designed to help viewers build their fear tolerance, both in horror and in life. Once enrolled, participants complete the level by watching the suggested films.

After each level, Shudder will give the activity that is comparable to that amount of fear they just conquered. Once all levels are completed, participants are officially a member of the coveted group
“The Order”.

Apple Watch

In order to accurately determine whether participants are able to move on to the next level of The Order, Shudder will partner with Apple watches and develop a feature that measures your heart rate
while streaming movies.

Members of The Order will have the opportunity to experience the horrors of fan favorite films up close and personal in their filming locations :

City Contest

Shudder will hold a social contest for cities to compete to be awarded “The Scariest City in the US”.

This will be measured by the number of people to complete all levels of The Handbook and join The Order.

Shudder Original

The winner of the most fearless city in the US will be rewarded with their very own Shudder Original movie.
For example, if New Orleans were to win, Shudder will create a movie based on a haunted location, in this case the famous haunted carousel. Now fans can get spooked in their own backyard, knowing that they’re living life to the fullest.
